Event Details
Come join the MI-AWWA Young Professionals as they tour the Northwest Ottawa Water System WTP in Grand Haven on Thursday November 7, followed by a mixer at Odd Sides Ales at 4:00 pm for drinks, appetizers, and networking.
The Northwest Ottawa Water Treatment Plant is operated and managed by the City of Grand Haven, which delivers safe, reliable and consistent drinking water to over 40,000 customers. Water is pumped from Lake Michigan and is pre-filtered through submerged infiltration beds located 12 to 15 feet below the lake bottom. When it reaches the treatment plant it is filtered again using a “direct filtration” procedure, passing water through 52 inches of anthracite coal.
