Water/Wastewater Operations Specialist

Oscoda, MI

Position Responsibilities

• Perform water/wastewater treatment plant operations and maintenance.
• Operate and maintain water distribution systems (mains, valves, and hydrants).
• Operate and maintain sewer collection systems (pump stations).
• Respond to water and sewer emergencies.
• Perform water/wastewater sampling and monitoring.
• Perform laboratory analysis for water quality parameters.
• Perform housekeeping and facility maintenance.
• Keep accurate records.

Position Requirements

• High school diploma or GED (or equivalent) required. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• At least 1 year of relevant water / wastewater treatment experience.
• Possession of a Class F-4 or S-4 or higher Michigan Municipal drinking water certification, or Class L-2 or D or higher Michigan Municipal wastewater certification preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to follow oral and written technical directions.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize and maintain high attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work effectively with employees, customers and the public.
• Team player who is willing to pitch in.
