Sylvia Orduno

Professional Bio

Sylvia Orduño is a Detroit resident who has worked for more than 25 years on water affordability issues for low-income households and to promote the human right to water and sanitation. As Managing Director of the People's Water Board Coalition she focuses on grassroots advocacy and policy initiatives and she works as a community organizer with the Michigan Welfare Rights Organization for the rights of poor people. Sylvia also serves as chair of the State of Michigan Advisory Council on Environmental Justice, is a member of the Great Lakes Advisory Board for the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, and is the recent former chair of the EPA's National Environmental Justice Advisory Council.
